#remember how this movie took female stereotypes and crushed them into a million pieces

casual reminder that Elle Woods scored a 179 on the LSAT, which is one point shy of a perfect score.

Casual reminder that Whatshisface here had family connections and was a legacy and shit, whereas Elle Woods came out of nowhere.

casual reminder that Elle Woods actually had an amazing background in real life issues that people dismissed as unimportant but managed to not only learn the law, but learned how to apply the law.

Casual reminder that Elle Woods used her lawyer skills to save a woman from an abusive relationship and also save another woman from trumped up murder charges and basically what I’m saying is you go, girl, go get ‘em Elle Woods, thank you for this movie.

what’s fantastic about this movie is that it’s not that fucked up brand of feminism where the girls who arent like other girls and sip tea and read hemingway look down on the blonde party sluts. the message of the movie is like, you can be blonde and attractive AND enjoy stuff like shopping and partying and you can still be smart and kick ass!!!

Men, I would like to give this opportunity to extend your formal invitation. Gender equality is your issue, too. To date, I’ve seen my father’s role as a parent being valued less by society. I’ve seen young men suffering from illness, unable to ask for help for fear it will make them less of a man. I’ve seen men fragile and insecure by what constitutes male success. Men don’t have the benefits of equality, either. We don’t want to talk about men being imprisoned by gender stereotypes but I can see that they are. When they are free, things will change for women as a natural consequence. If men don’t have to be aggressive, women won’t be compelled to be submissive. If men don’t need to control, women won’t have to be controlled. Both men and women should feel free to be strong. It is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals. We should stop defining each other by what we are not and start defining ourselves by who we are. We can all be freer and this is what HeForShe is about. It’s about freedom. I want men to take up this mantle so their daughters, sisters and mothers can be free from prejudice but also so their sons have permission to be vulnerable and human, too and in doing so, be a more true and complete version of themselves - Emma Watson for HeForShe UN campaign

Women are not objects! I am a 16 year old girl who feels the need to cover my body in public because of perverted assholes like this. I am completely disgusted by that video and the comments on it.

Anonymous asked: That's what everyone says when you call me out on using pussy as an insult. I just dint like it because bitch, cunt, girl, pussy, etc are all associated with being a girl, ya know?

yes, okay, I got the message. when I think about it, insults about genetalia aren’t only negative for women, right? dick or twat or cock doesn’t have a positive association to it, either. at all!

I agree there are gendered insults, against gamer girls for example. they’re being called cunts, attention seekers and bitches on reddit and wherever else. that’s fucking wrong, because gamer girls are considered a minority in the gaming world and people are calling them out on their gender. but I honestly think it depends on a situation. the genetalia insults are insults for a reason, it’s to put someone else down when you dislike someone. it happens for both sexes, I absolutely disagree that dick is associated with having more power and shit than bitch or something. fuck no. it just becomes problematic when the boss situation happens: men are called bosses and women are called bitches (bc they’re assertive). that means way more in that situation than fucking words do.

somehow I also do get your point and I still have mixed feelings over the word pussy. in today’s world it’s related to only women (even tho guys can be called pussies as well) and it’s immediately connected to being weak and being scared. my problem is not really that since women also have the world bitch which has the opposite meaning kind of, but my problem is that I can’t think of an insult that’s related to men and related to being weak or scared. because I’m convinced completely avoiding insulting words is impossible, but we can kind of get equality in having equal insults.

I do not want to deny gender as a feminist, just like I don’t want to deny races as someone who hates racism. being different from each other is something we should celebrate, but the one being worth more than another purely because of the gender or race you were born as is the thing we should fight.

leeseungriah replied to your post:You might not want to call yourself weak by saying “pussy” … It’s like “strong female characters” who insult by calling people “girls”

i used to think about that a lot too but i actually did some research, and apparently the “insult” doesn’t have anything to do with female genitalia ^^ it’s two completely different etymologies

omg you’re right! I didn’t know this lol. noice. pussy comes from the actual cat right? lol this is a great defense thingy.
